This is my first blog as The Observant Poet™. The purpose of the blog is to reach out to writers that enjoy journaling, writing poetry, essays, and short stories. I am by no means an experienced author. Rather I wrote my first collection of poetry in 2020. It was a “labor of love,” as they say. The work gave me a chance to explore my creative side and is truly a work of self-expression. You see, I have been writing business correspondence for decades: proposals, letters of interest, findings from my PhD research, and more academic and professional papers than I care to think about.
This blog is intended to engage mostly beginners and the semi-experienced, but seasoned writers are most welcome. We will learn from your experience! I also hope to invite guest authors to add to the discussion by providing a blog or two along the way. Each blog will be accompanied by a watercolor illustration from my book, Exploring Life One Poem at a Time. The book contains 25 poems, and I had an artist in Argentina, Lilen Alvarado illustrate each one. I think you will really appreciate her work.
My first series of blog posts will take you through the process I went through from creative writing through my book signing event. It was quite a journey and learning experience.
