ABOUT STEVE
When one thinks of a poet, one hardly conjures up the persona of an accomplished business strategy executive and professional engineer.
Enter Dr. Stephen F. Mayer.
As an ardent “observer of life,” Steve quips that his poetry is an emotive expression of his right-brained passion for creativity, while he leaves his left-brain analytical skills in the boardroom. With a lifelong love of poetry, in particular works from the Age of Romanticism, Steve was moved to publish “Exploring Life One Poem at a Time,” his first collection of poems.
Steve is inspired by everything around him. Wind commanding trees to sway, a couple in love, his granddaughter’s antics. He looks into the soul of life, and it is in that place from which he writes—his poetry embodies love, nature, and spirituality.
He is currently working on additional poetic collections.
Among Steve’s degrees are a BSCE, MBA and PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo. At home in East Aurora, New York, he teaches graduate courses in business, and as a consultant, he travels the world. Steve is also a licensed professional engineer.

One Poem at a Time
Welcome! The poetic journey on which you are about to embark honors everyday life in the form of “story poems.” As a poet and an author, my purpose is to connect with you, my readers, through common themes of love, nature, and spirituality. I use poetic style to unleash emotions and feelings about things we all experience – the joy of family and memorable occasions, the healing peace that solitude offers, the loneliness of loved ones lost, and the soulful energy nature infuses in all of us. I shamelessly co-opt and adapt the style of the Romanticists who brought a special passion to this genre of poetry. And to deepen the meaning of each story poem, a beautiful watercolor illustration is displayed.
